A holiday or just a day walking in the Dales will give you a first hand experience of the unique historic landscape described on this website. To help you find your way around we have divided the Explore section of the website into eight geographical areas. Within each one you will find an overview of the archaeology and history of the area along with places to visit and self-guided walks.
While you are out exploring, please remember that you are in a living, working landscape. Most of the sites described are in private ownership so please treat any site that you visit with respect.
