Description

Early to mid-19th century milestone. Dressed sandstone, square plinth with chamfered corners. White painted semicircular shaft inscribed ‘S9’ picked out in black. Rounded top. One of a series of 11 along the road from Sedbergh to Dent lying within the parish of Dent.

Location

From Dent Station follow signs to Dent for 3/4 mile. Milestone lies on left hand side of road opposite Cowgill Chapel and behind a concrete fence.
